Chrism Mass 2011
Bishop Donald Kettler will celebrate the annual Chrism Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral on April 12, 2011. At the mass priests, deacons, religious, and laity will renew their commitment to the Diocese. Three Holy Oils will be blessed and will be used during the following year by ministers of the Diocese. These Holy Oils are the Oil of Catechumens, Oil of the Sick, and the Holy Chrism Oil. During the following year those who receive the Sacrament of Baptism will be anointed by the Oil of Catechumens. The Oil of the Sick will be used for those ill or dying. Holy Chrism Oil will be used for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders. Representatives from many of the Diocese parish's will received Holy Oils from the Bishop during the liturgy.To allow representatives from non-road system parishes to attend a Chrism Mass, Bishop Donald Kettler will also celebrate a Chrism Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Bethel, AK on the 15th of April.
