House of Prayer

The House of Prayer, located next to Sacred Heart Cathedral, has served in the past as a residence, an instruction center, a retreat house, and a meeting place for various groups and classes in the Fairbanks area.  Currently, the House of Prayer (HOP) continues to serve many purposes.  These include:

  • Daily Mass: 7:30 AM, Monday through Saturday in the Chapel.

  • Latin (Tridentine) Mass: 10:00 AM every Sunday in the Chapel.  This Mass is usually followed by either Benediction or a potluck.

  • Sacred Heart Cathedral CCD classes meet at HOP during the winter.

  • Sacred Heart Cathedral RCIA classes meet at HOP throughout the year.

  • Meetings: Several groups hold regular meetings at the HOP, including Knights of Columbus, Voice in the Wilderness Charismatic Prayer Group, and the Kateri Tekakwitha Circle of Fairbanks.

  • Classes / Trainings:  Occasional classes may be held at the HOP, as space permits.

  • Retreats: The facility is available for solitary and group retreats upon approval.

  • Guest Accommodation: The HOP also provides auxiliary housing for out of town visitors who are attending regional or diocesan meetings.
