Urban Native Ministry

The Office of Urban Native Ministry is staffed by a Director, hired by the Bishop to be aware of, and to address the ministerial needs of our indigenous people living in Fairbanks and in the surrounding road-system parishes. Included also, is the specific ministry of facilitating and directing the spiritual and temporal activities of our diocesan Kateri Tekakwitha Circle. Paramount in this ministry is to be a Catholic, caring presence and to be aware of issues and concerns that affect them.

Although the present Director has been blessed with educational degrees and vast and varied opportunities which have equipped her with the necessary background to serve in this new and much-needed ministry - the desire to be present to our Native peoples, to walk along with them in both their joys and sorrows, to listen to their concerns and, above all, to love them, are all-important. It is with great humility that I acknowledge the gift of their presence in my life and ministry.
